We stock and install LiftMaster-compatible welded gate components across Los Angeles, with most welding and fabrication jobs running $240 to $680 installed depending on the part and the amount of fabrication involved. We carry OEM LiftMaster hinge assemblies, gate frame sections, and mounting brackets on our trucks, and we can typically schedule welding work within one to two business days across most LA neighborhoods. The way most owners discover they need this service: a gate starts sagging, a hinge shears off at the weld, or a bracket cracks and the opener starts straining against a gate that no longer swings square.
Here’s the part nobody tells you until you’re standing in front of a crooked gate at 7 a.m. on a workday: LiftMaster openers are built to last, but the welded steel around them takes a beating in Los Angeles weather. Salt air near the coast, hard sun in the Valley, and the constant open-close cycles on apartment gates mean welds fatigue and brackets crack. When they do, the opener usually gets blamed for what is really a metal problem.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
LiftMaster welding and fabrication work applies to virtually every gate opener configuration they sell, but the specifics depend on how your gate is set up. The most common repair calls we handle in Los Angeles involve the LA400 and LA500 swing gate openers, the SL3000 and SL585 slide gate series, and the CSL24V commercial slide operators. The welded components we fabricate for these units include hinge plates, post brackets, gate frame reinforcements, and opener mounting pads.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches people off guard: LiftMaster hinge brackets are not universal across their swing gate line. A hinge assembly from an LA400 will not bolt cleanly onto an older LA412 or a newer LA500 without fabrication work. The post bracket hole spacing changed between generations, and the arm geometry is different. If you’re not sure which bracket your opener needs, look for the model number on the silver sticker on the side of the operator arm, then measure the distance between the two mounting bolts on your existing bracket. We can match it from that alone, and we’ll tell you over the phone whether we stock it or need a day to fabricate it.
For aftermarket versus OEM: we use genuine LiftMaster brackets and hinge assemblies when they’re available because the steel gauge is specified for the torque those arms generate. On older or discontinued models where LiftMaster no longer ships parts, we fabricate replacements in-house using the same gauge steel and the same bolt pattern, and we weld them to spec. You get either the OEM part or a matched equivalent, never a thinner-gauge universal bracket that will crack again in a year.
One note for the record: Calder Gate Repair is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with LiftMaster or the Chamberlain Group. We work on their equipment daily and we know it inside and out, but the warranty on your LiftMaster opener itself stays with LiftMaster. The warranty on our fabrication work is ours.

Signs Your LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags or scrapes at the latch end. This is almost always a hinge weld that has stretched or cracked. The gate still opens, but the weight is now pulling on the hinge plates instead of resting on them, and the opener motor is working harder every cycle.
- The opener arm makes a popping or knocking sound near the gate post. A mounting bracket that has cracked at the weld will flex under load, and you’ll hear it. This is the sound of the bracket moving when it should be rigid, and it only gets worse.
- The gate stops mid-cycle or reverses for no obvious reason. When a post bracket shifts, the opener’s force sensor reads the extra resistance as an obstruction and triggers a safety reverse. The opener isn’t broken, but the welded mount behind it is.
- You can see daylight through a weld joint or a rust line running along a bracket edge. Coastal Los Angeles air eats unprotected steel, and a rust line at a weld is the first visible sign that the joint is compromised.
- The gate has more play or wobble than it used to when pushed by hand. Put the opener in manual release and push the gate halfway through its travel. If the gate twists or the post side moves independently of the latch side, the welded frame connection is failing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Los Angeles, most LiftMaster welding and fabrication work lands between $240 and $680 installed. A single hinge bracket replacement with welding typically runs $240 to $380. Fabricating a custom post bracket or reinforcing a sagging gate frame section runs $350 to $550. A full hinge set replacement on a large double swing gate with fabrication work can reach $680 or more when we’re rebuilding both gate halves.
Every quote we write includes the part, the fabrication time, the welding labor, and the on-site fitment. We quote a firm price before any work starts, and the number on your invoice is the number you approved. No surprises after the fact. Our fabrication work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a weld or bracket we installed fails within a year, we return at no charge and make it right.
| LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication Job | Typical Los Angeles Price Range |
|---|---|
| Single hinge bracket replacement with welding | $240 – $380 |
| Custom post bracket fabrication and install | $350 – $550 |
| Gate frame reinforcement (sagging gate) | $350 – $600 |
| Full hinge set on double swing gate | $480 – $680+ |
The spread in those ranges comes from gate size, steel thickness, and access. A 12-foot solid iron gate weighs more than a 6-foot tube steel gate, which means heavier fabrication and more time on-site. We’ll give you the exact number after we see the gate, and that number is locked before we fire up the welder.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before calling us. Put the opener in manual release, open and close the gate by hand, and look for sag, wobble, or visible cracks at the welds. Take photos of any rust lines or shifted brackets. That’s where DIY safely ends for this kind of work.
Welding on a gate that’s connected to an electric opener means working around high-tension springs, 120V or solar DC wiring, and a gate leaf that can weigh several hundred pounds. A weld that fails because of improper penetration or wrong gauge steel doesn’t just look bad, it can drop a gate on a car, a pet, or a person. This is not a weekend project for a flux-core welder from the hardware store. If the bracket or hinge is compromised, call a pro who welds gate steel for a living. Call (213) 322-1415 and tell us what the gate is doing. Nico Alvarez will tell you what it actually costs to fix it, before anyone picks up a tool.
LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication FAQs
A properly welded LiftMaster hinge or bracket typically lasts 8 to 12 years in Los Angeles, with coastal properties near Santa Monica or Long Beach trending toward the lower end because of salt air corrosion. Inland neighborhoods like Boyle Heights or Pasadena see longer life, but sun exposure and gate weight matter more than proximity to the ocean. Call (213) 322-1415 if your welds are cracking sooner than that, because the underlying cause is usually gate weight or alignment, not the weld itself.
Sometimes, yes. If the crack is on a flat plate and the surrounding steel is sound, we can grind out the crack and re-weld it for $120 to $220. If the crack runs through a bolt hole or the bracket has already deformed, replacement is the honest answer. We’ll show you the crack and explain which option applies before any work is approved.
Most single-bracket or hinge replacements take 1 to 2 hours on site. A full hinge set with gate frame reinforcement can take 3 to 4 hours. We quote a written price and a real arrival window before we come out, and every job includes before-and-after photos and a digital invoice you can pay from your phone.
We stock common LA400, LA500, SL3000, and CSL24V brackets and hinge assemblies on our trucks, and we can fabricate discontinued or custom-fit brackets in our shop within one business day. If we don’t have it on the truck when we arrive, we’ll tell you on the first visit and schedule the install for when the part is ready. Call (213) 322-1415 and we’ll check stock for your specific model before you book.
