We’re the crew that shows up when your gate won’t budge, your opener’s grinding, or your driveway suddenly feels like a parking lot for anyone who wanders by. Calder Gate Repair Los Angeles has been fixing gates across this city since 2009, and while every location in the Relay Home Co. family runs independently, we all answer to the same standard. What unites this team is simple: we’d rather take an extra twenty minutes to get a limit switch dialed in perfectly than come back next week. Most of us have worked on gates in Hollywood Hills, Sherman Oaks, and everywhere in between long enough to know that no two driveways, no two hinges, and no two openers behave exactly alike.
Styles & brands we work with

Our People
Nico Alvarez, Owner
Nico started fixing gates in Los Angeles in 2009, back when a bent track on a sliding gate in the Valley meant crawling through poison oak and hoping the property owner’s dog was friendly. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule, which means when a technician hits a problem they’ve never seen, Nico’s the one on the phone talking them through it. He’s the guy who answers the phone at 6 a.m. because he was already up reading wiring diagrams. Ask him about the Christmas morning when he had three “urgent” gate calls before noon and he’ll tell you gates don’t respect holidays. He writes the price down before a single tool comes out, and if he says the repair is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, it’s covered.
Rafael M., Lead Technician
Rafael has been with Calder Gate Repair Los Angeles for nine years and has probably worked on more electric gate openers in Los Angeles than most people have driven past. His specialty is diagnostics, meaning he’s the one who can hear a gate opener grinding and tell you whether it’s a capacitor, a gear, or a limit switch before he opens the panel. He’s certified on LiftMaster and DoorKing systems and handles most of the commercial gate work we take on around downtown LA and the industrial corridors near Vernon. Rafael keeps a torque wrench in his truck that he bought the year he started, and he still checks it against a calibration tool every Monday morning. Outside of work, he rebuilds old motorcycles, which might explain why he’s so good with mechanical linkages.
Dana K., Senior Installer
Dana runs our new gate and opener installation work across Los Angeles, from simple residential gates in Culver City to heavier automated systems in the hills where the grade makes a swing gate work a lot harder than it should. She’s factory-familiar with FAAC and BFT hydraulic operators and spent three years doing high-end custom gate work before coming to Calder. Dana is the person who will walk your property and point out things other installers miss, like where water pools at the base of a post or how afternoon sun hits a photo-eye sensor. She’s also the one who insists on torque-checking every single bolt twice before calling a job done, which is why her installs tend to be the ones we don’t hear about again. Her dog, a rescue mutt named Spark, rides along on weekend site visits and has memorized every drive-thru between Silver Lake and Pasadena.
Marcus T., Service Coordinator
Marcus is the voice on the other end of the phone when you call Calder Gate Repair Los Angeles, and he’s probably the reason your repair happens today instead of next Tuesday. He’s been coordinating field service for gate and access control companies since 2014 and knows every neighborhood in our service area, from the tight streets of Echo Park to the gated communities of Calabasas. Marcus runs the live dispatch board, which means he tracks every technician’s location in real time and can tell you, without guessing, when your tech will arrive. He’s also the one who makes sure your written price gets sent before the tech pulls into your driveway, and he’s not shy about calling a parts supplier three times to get a FAAC capacitor delivered the same afternoon. When he’s not coordinating repairs, he’s coaching his daughter’s soccer team in Highland Park, where he’s earned a reputation for arguing with referees about whether a gate sensor would have caught that offside call.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person on this team works under the same rules, no exceptions. Written price before any work starts, always. If the repair fails within 365 days, Calder returns at no charge, that’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and every customer gets it in writing. If something wasn’t done right the first time, the second visit is free, not discounted, not pro-rated, free. Rafael, Dana, and every technician we send out has passed a background check and shows up in uniform with a live, trackable arrival time so you’re not stuck guessing when we’ll show. Marcus logs the before-and-after photos, and you get a digital invoice you can pay from a link. That’s The Relay Standard, and it’s the same standard every Calder location in the Relay Home Co. network is built on. This is the only way we know how to work, and after sixteen years in Los Angeles, it’s the only way that makes sense.
